Every year, we continue to be amazed by how much the Roxbury Public Library adds value to our community. We are very pleased to invite you to the Roxbury Library Foundation Gala — a night to kick back, relax and celebrate all that the Library offers Roxbury Township. Proceeds will benefit the Roxbury Library Foundation.
Join us on Wednesday, November 13th from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Meadow Wood in Randolph. We promise an evening of good food and community spirit as we celebrate the theme, The Enchanted Library.

Shirley Bauer is a community advocate and Friends of the Roxbury Library board member, serving a long list of organizations and causes. With a heart for making a difference, she has dedicated herself to improving the lives of others.
Shirley served as a member of the Roxbury Board of Education for nine years, including two years as President. Her leadership skills and passion for empowering others have been instrumental in shaping educational policies and fostering a nurturing learning environment for students. In addition, Shirley has been an active volunteer with Roxbury Social Services for over a decade, providing vital support to individuals and families in need. She has also dedicated over 20 years of service to NourishNJ (formerly Community Soup Kitchen), helping to combat hunger and food insecurity in the community. Shirley’s passion for building and creating positive change extends beyond her local community. She has participated in numerous Habitat for Humanity and other build projects across multiple states, as well as in Canada, El Salvador, and Ukraine. Her hands-on approach to philanthropy has helped provide safe and affordable housing for families in need around the world. Locally, Shirley has been involved in community-building initiatives such as the Imagination Station at Horseshoe Lake Park, where she volunteered her time to help create a vibrant and inclusive space for children to play and learn. As an eight-year board member of the Friends of the Roxbury Public Library, she has played a vital role in supporting library programs and services that enrich the lives of residents of all ages. As a member of Temple Shalom, Shirley served as the Educational Director for 11 years and also ran the renaissance group for 16 years, a group of active seniors who enjoyed each other's company and traveled to interesting places, continually learning about the world around them. She has also been a dedicated Girl Scout Leader and Nursery School Teacher. Roxbury is grateful for Shirley’s unwavering dedication to serving others.
Stu Bauer is a dedicated community leader and volunteer, known for his unwavering commitment to service and his passion for making a positive impact. With a diverse range of volunteer credentials, Stu has dedicated himself to supporting various causes and organizations, leaving a lasting impression on the communities he serves.
As a longtime board member of the Friends of the Roxbury Library, Stu's dedication to promoting library events and services has been evident throughout his decade-long tenure, culminating in his exemplary leadership as president for the last two years. Under his guidance, the Friends have expanded fundraising opportunities and made more great things possible at the library, further solidifying the library's role as a vital community resource. Stu's commitment to youth development is also evident in his role as Scoutmaster of Troop-159 with the Boy Scouts of America. For over eight years, he mentored and guided countless young men, instilling in them valuable life skills and fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership. In addition to his work with the Boy Scouts and the library, Stu has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts, including Habitat for Humanity builds in NJ, VT, KY, TN, LA (3 builds after Hurricane Katrina), MI, Canada, El Salvador and Ukraine. As a seasoned Crew Leader, he has led teams in rebuilding communities in the aftermath of natural disasters and providing safe housing for those in need. Stu's passion for craftsmanship extends beyond his volunteer work, as evidenced by his involvement with the NJ Woodturners, where he has served as Publicity/Secretary and member for 15 years. A skilled woodworker and DIY enthusiast, Stu brings creativity and expertise to his volunteer projects, including his role as Construction Captain for the Imagination Station build at Horseshoe Lake. Stu also has shared his love of photography as an instructor for Roxbury High School Adult Ed program as well as the unofficial Marching Band Photographer. His dedication to community service, combined with his diverse skill set and passion for making a difference, make Stu Bauer an invaluable asset to the Friends of the Roxbury Library and our Roxbury community.
Born and raised in Roxbury, Scott Fullerton has dedicated his life to his hometown and profession.
A proud alumnus of Franklin Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School and Roxbury High School, Scott went on to graduate from Penn State with degrees in horticulture and landscape contracting. He spent 14 years honing his skills in the industry before establishing his own company, Fullerton Grounds Maintenance, in 1994. Scott's deep-seated devotion to Roxbury is evident in his countless contributions, including an interactive project for Franklin School, a design/build initiative for outdoor study spaces, and the installation of the Roxbury High School baseball dugout. His commitment extends to the restoration of the historic King House, reflecting his passion for preserving the town's heritage. An active member of the Roxbury Rotary, Scott is particularly invested in youth programs, sponsoring numerous sports teams and clubs, and has supported dozens of Eagle Scout projects, earning him the prestigious Lifetime Boy Scout Achievement Award. A long-time supporter of the Roxbury Arts Alliance, Scott plans to remain in Roxbury after retirement, having restored a lake house where he cherishes passing on his love for the area to future generations, especially his two-year-old grandson, Andrew. Scott Fullerton's legacy is one of community spirit, professional excellence, and a profound love for Roxbury, a place he proudly calls home.
The Ron DeFilippis Community Service Award honors the legacy of Roxbury Library Foundation’s Founding Treasurer Ron DeFilippis. It celebrates individuals and organizations who embody compassion, generosity and unwavering dedication, actively working to improve our community and inspiring others along the way.
The library's ability to meet the needs of Roxbury is constrained by the limitations of a facility that has not seen an expansion in 30 years. Space is needed to house expanded collections, to accommodate demand for library programs, and meet the space needs of the community. The library is ideally positioned to provide public space. It favors no political or religious beliefs. It welcomes all cultures, races, genders, incomes, ages, abilities, and identities...and access is always free.
To offer financial support to the mission of the Roxbury Public Library, encouraging gifts, endowments and memorials to The Roxbury Public Library Foundation, Inc to expand and maintain the library building and its infrastructure.
The Foundation was formed and certified by the State of New Jersey on July 2nd, 2021 with the goal of expanding fundraising capabilities that would enable a future expansion of the library facility.
